Lethbridge - Adult Braces

No more expensive time-consuming procedures, head-gear and other embarrassing appliances!

Decided to take the plunge and explore orthodontics? Relax, we’ve come a long way from the metal grids you used to see in your teenage friends’ mouths.

When most people think of orthodontics, they think of a long, tedious process involving braces, headgear and other noticeable, awkward devices.

Today, there are numerous orthodontic options which are both effective, fast and much less visible than more traditional methods.

Straight teeth aren't just pleasing to the eye. Misaligned teeth can cause a host of problems from sleep apnea to jaw soreness to headaches. Only a dentist can determine whether you need braces.

If you do, there are many options. Tooth-colored ceramic braces can blend into your teeth. Lingual braces can be placed behind your teeth. Some metal braces can be colored bright colors, an option popular among pre-teens and teenagers.

If you do need braces, they can be virtually invisible.

Straight teeth are important, not just for your appearance, but for your health. Untreated, misaligned teeth can have serious consequences for your health.

Instant Orthodontics

Today, we also use Instant Orthodontics to achieve the same results as traditional orthodontics, but in much less time and with no awkward appliances. Straight, even teeth can be yours, and in only a matter of weeks!

Natural looking thin, ceramic shells of material coloured to match your natural teeth - called veneers - are placed over the front surface of your teeth. By visiting a dentist, your new veneers will be virtually indistinguishable from real teeth. Your new teeth will be just as durable as real teeth.

The typical Instant Orthodontic process involves four procedures over the course of about a month.

The first appointment is an initial consultation with your dentist. The procedure will be explained to you and a timetable will be determined.

The second procedure is where the mold is made - the mold is used to create the veneers. During this second procedure, your teeth will be lightly shaved down (to accommodate the additional thickness of the veneer) and a mold is created. This mold is then sent to a dental laboratory.

After approximately two weeks, you'll return to the dentist and the veneers will be bonded to your teeth. This is a relatively complicated process and can take several hours.

Finally, a follow-up appointment to ensure the veneers have bonded properly.

When it's all over, you'll have straight, even, natural-looking teeth! No braces, no head-gear and almost no wait. An instant natural looking great smile!

If you do need braces, Dr. Lachman can help you determine which type will be best suited for your needs.
